Permanent Links - Most viewed, top rated, etc.
« on: June 11, 2006, 11:56:51 pm »

Could the thumbnails be made to point to permanent links, please?

While this has been requested before, I couldn't find any reference to the what I think is the most important reason for doing it, which has nothing to do with search engines. If you're on the "most viewed" page and someone else is viewing also, by the time you click on a thumbnail the picture it's pointing to may change due to changes in rankings. The same would be true of links on the "top rated" page if someone was voting while you were viewing.

It would be one thing if the links were only changing weeks later and effecting search engines, but they're getting broken in the minute or two between bringing up a page of thumbnails and clicking on them.

Thank you.

P.S. Forgot to mention that when you click on one thumbnail and a different picture comes up, it obviously makes nonsense of the view counts, since you're viewing pictures you may have had no interest in.

Already done for the devel branch, so this feature will exist in cpg1.5.x
You can't download it though - it's a feature for a future version. You're welcome to check out the subversion repository if you're adventurous.
