Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /Volumes/Server/htdocs/Coppermine/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 270

I get this error, how do I fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Which error?  The "maximum execution time" error or the spaces-in-filename error?

Are you using the Admin Tools - Update Thumbs and/or Resized Photos?

If so, there's a box there for "number of processed images per click".  Set to a smaller number as indicated.

I did, brought it all the way down to 15, and the issue still happens.

I don't understand.  You tell it to do 15 at a time, and it does 29 files, then gives an error message?

Besides decreasing the number of files at a time (to even lower than 15), you'd have to increase the PHP execution time - I'm not sure if you have to speak to your webhost about that.  I cannot help you in that regards.  Maybe another supporter will stop by with more useful information.

I host the site myself on a separate server... what would I have to do to make this happen?

The PHP setting for max execution time is mentioned in the "Troubleshooting the Upload Process" sticky: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=24088.0 (which I found by searching the board FYI).

Actually Self Hosting on a server that has a T3 connection is quite good, it alleviates a lot of the headaches of waiting for someone else to fix a problem when you can do it yourself.

Thanks, and I did a search too, it was for the "picmgmt.inc.php on line 270" part I searched for... Hoping someone else had this same issue.  Since the sticky never showed up in the search I thought it never was an issue for others...

Thanks again either way :)

Self-hosting is not recommended.  Other threads discuss details why.

It's best to search for the error message, not the script & line number, especially for generic error messages like the maximum execution time reached.  That's a fairly common PHP issue.

Technically any hosting is self hosting... the only difference is you have someone else host the service for you...

OK, then let's rephrase it: running and maintaining a server on your own that can be accessed over the internet is not recommended. Do as Paver suggested and look this discussion up on the other threads Paver has refered to if you'fre willing to find out why we think that you shouldn't be running your own server.
