Can i have my photos in another webserver ??
« on: May 05, 2006, 01:49:07 am »

plz check my question in 4th post plz

Quote
im running coppermine in a free webserver so i dont have much webspace, i usually keep the photos in other places, so, is it possible coppermine use the photos given thru url?and he would only keep the small thumbs in the webserver he's running ? i would save alot of space and then i would have a more versatile solution...if i could keep the big pics in another site...because i can have almost unlimited space with my isp but with no server technology...
i am sorry :-[ if this isnt the right place to post...i have read the FAQ and browsed thru the forum but didnt get an awnser to it...maybe it isnt possible..if not..it would be best placed in the feature request  ;D

This has been requested many, many times.  There might be a mod to do such a thing, but you'll have to search the mods board for such a thing.  It will not be a feature in Coppermine due to the ease of abuse for such a feature.  Imagine someone wanting to have a great photo album and hotlinking photos from another website, thus stealing that person's bandwidth.  (Of course, the other person should not allow hotlinking on his/her site to avoid such a case.)

We realize that there are legitimate uses for such a feature, but they don't outweigh the evil uses.

im trying to recycle this post, because now i have another question...im trying to Upload using the URI/URL Upload but i get this error:

URI/URL Uploads:
File Name/URL   Error Message
1. http://www.addyour.net/images/text1.jpg   Could not open URI.

this might mean that fopen or some other function in my php server isnt avaliable?
this is my free web server config:
Apache version     1.3.34 (Unix)
PHP version    4.4.1
MySQL version    4.1.19
what function(or other) am i missing here? is it the problem? what should i ask my host for ?

well it seems i didnt read the FAQ..sorry...and nevermind the post...

We're not going to help you with searching the boards, especially for this issue.  Search the mods and reply to those as necessary.
