It's up to your host to adjust the mysql server configuration. Looks like you are on a very busy server.

Thank you Nibbler!!

Everytime I email them they say it's not them, it's coppermine... So that's why I came here.

Should I have them Flush the queries and the objects in red?
Or are they just going to come back because the server itself is to busy?

I think I'll drop them an email and put in there the findings from the SQL side...

I just want to know what to say when they say "well it's not our issue, it's the software you're using" again....

Thank you again!!! I feel like I'm getting somewhere!

PS - Imagine you're right... I've learned more in 2 days of looking at logs and at this forum than I have from ANY book I've read  ;D

OK, I went to my webhost and showed them everything I showed you - The coppermine logs, the SQL 'log' that i showed you guys.

Here is their HELPFUL response:

Hello Jason,

Thank you for contacting Support.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. You need to contact the vendor of the Gallery regarding your issue.

No - You have control over the SQL side of the site, you've been given me the run around since I switched to coppermine.
YOUR company offered coppermine and I have been in contact with them.

This is unacceptable. If you want me to go back to them you tell me what I need to address with them, because I've already been to them and they tell me to come to you.

I really don't know what to do anymore... I know it's not your JOB to help me, (and heaven knows I appreciate the help!) but I just don't know what to do ...

You have a large number of queries, so why don't you reduce them?

If this doesn't help, start looking for another webhost, or consider spending more for webhosting - you get what you pay for usually. Signing up with a webhost who offers better performance usually costs some extra bucks.

Thank you SO much!
It really is so helpful of you guys to have a FREE album utility as such and offer FREE support.... It really is un-heard of (in a good way!).

I'm getting there with this, and I'm trying more new things by the day. I wish I had 1/8 of your technical knowledge! The standard stuff that I SHOULD know (like I just learned queries are just a request to the server for information...yeah...DUH...  :-\ ) that are very basic I'm lacking... I'll work on it though!

Thanks again for the help, I'm going to try exactly what you said to do!

I think it's time to put this one to bed... I was running alot of queries on a well used server and suffering the consequences.
Contacted my ISP, went back and forth with them, they fixed it for awhile and now it's back to being 'buggy' again.
I don't think it's the software, so I'm going to mark this one as fixed  ;D

I just got a message back from my hosting service as it went to doing it's old tricks again...

Hello,

We have checked your Web site http://bestinth.startlogic.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=960&pos=25 and it is loading fine. We suggest you to check the basic things to load your Web site faster by proper scripting and indexing the database/tables etc.

Here are the few tips for the proper Database Design Performance:
1. Design sane query schemas. Don’t be afraid of table joins, often they are faster than denormalization.
2. Don't use Boolean flags
3. Use Indexes
4. Don't Index Everything
5. Do not duplicate indexes
6. Do not use large columns in indexes if the ratio of Selects: Inserts is low.
7. be careful of redundant columns in an index or across indexes
8. Use a clever key and ORDER BY instead of MAX Normalize first, and renormalize where appropriate.
9. A NULL data type can take more room to store than NOT NULL
10. Choose appropriate character sets & collations -- UTF16 will store each character in 2 bytes, whether it needs it or not, latin1 is faster than UTF8.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

Sincerely,

Alton Tucker

Their recommendations are silly. None of them applies for users of a pre-made script like coppermine. They send you a canned response without looking into your issues.

With a response such as that I would consider if they are worth spending anymore time and money on. You may have just got a bad response from one of their employees and another might be more helpful. If however, they have often caused you trouble then take time in seeking a new host.

Hello again!

Well Nibbler, you had the answer (as I'm sure Joachim and Phill had also figured it out) that my SQL server was my bottle neck!

I complained and complained and even looked into serving it out of my house, or a dedicated unit and then I got a message from the 'high ups' apologizing for my inconvenience and that it had taken this long to get it fixed...he was moving me immediately to another SQL server...

My problems are GONE - my website feels like it's brand new again w/ no pictures (and I have over 40,000 in the DB).

I'm thrilled, thank you ALL for your help and criticism, it really pushed me to dig deeper and stand my ground because I had some knowledgeable people behind me...
I love this program and your support, most people have to pay quite a bit for the feedback you gave me for FREE using YOUR free time!

I'm happy to call this one SOLVED  ;D
