Cookies - For custom login (index file)

hi,
I recently shifted to PHP from ASP.. and so I am not a good PHP'er.. nor a good cookie coder..

I need help to build my own custom login in Index page.

How do i do that ?

I know it's about Cookies and Sessions..
I tried many ways... but no success yet.

Any help would be appriciated..

P.S.: I don't want to use any CMS... i want to build it on my own..

Hehe, you don't actually code cookies, you bake them ;)
