pre-bridge forum members user group not recognised
« on: January 12, 2006, 12:47:24 am »

I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and phpBB 2.0.19:

I have bridged successfully and want to use the user groups from the forum. If a new user signs up then is assigned to a group coppermine is recognising this and places them in the correct group. However all pre-bridge members are set to registered in coppermine despite if i put them into a group on the forum. I would like to be able to change existing members groups if they wish to upgrade. Is there someway I can do this?

Coppermine install: http://www.bumpsandbundles.com.au/babygallery/
Forum install: http://www.bumpsandbundles.com.au/Forum/
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.2
Forum version: phpBB 2.0.19
Test user account: Tester1 / test1

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://www.bumpsandbundles.com.au/Forum
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../Forum/
Use post-based groups?:  1

When I did the bridge for the first time i set Use post-based groups to 0 as it said that i could change this later if i wanted to. After I set up and decided to use this I could not find where I could change this with out going back into the bridge disabling it reseting and then reenabling, is this the correct place to do that or am I overlooking something?

Any help appreciated
Thanks

pre-bridge coppermine users are lost when enabling bridging no matter what.

Sorry must be a misunderstanding -

it is the pre-bridge forum members - they have tranfered across but if I allocate them to a group on the forum it doesn't show up in coppermine - they stay as 'registered'

new members that sign up now i can change groups ect no problem - it is only those that were existing members of the forum prior to bridging

Thanks

do you have primary and secondary groups on your bbs? Only the primary ones are being taken into account afaik.

Prior to set up I did not have any groups in the forum. After set up I decided that I wanted to have 3 groups so that i could control how much space different users have.

Registered would have access only no space
VIP Baby Gallery would be allowed limited space
and Gold VIP Baby Gallery would get unlimited space (or something along that line)

So after bridging I added the groups to the forum, then I placed a couple of pre-bridging forum users in the groups but they stayed as just registered. However when I added the test account initially they were just registered then I allocated them to one of the groups and it showed up fine, so I tested it on 2 other users that had signed up for the forum post bridge and they went into the group in coppermine fine as well (I have changed them back though so now they are back to registered as they would have access to part of the board thats not ready for them yet)

The tester1 I set up though is still in the VIP group

Hope this makes sense and is of help :)

I am thinking of unistalling and re-installing coppermine..?  :-\

Do you think the problem could be coming from when I first set up and stated I didn't want to use the groups?

However if I uninstalled then reinstalled this would still leave the same information in the database wouldn't it? Which must be where the problem is?

I unistalled and re-installed coppermine, this made no difference :(
It actually seems it is not placing members in groups that were forum members prior to the groups been set up on the forum.....does this mean it is a problem coming from phpbb rather than coppermine?

I am not sure what you mean by this the way the groups have been set up is in above post, should there be somewhere else that you set groups to primary and secondary?

issues may be related to the most recent version of phpbb you're running - I've seen similar postings, so there might be a chance that the coppermine bridge doesn't work flawlessly under certain conditions with phpBB 2.0.19. Our bridging specialist Nibbler is currently away, he'll return soon. Maybe he knows an answer. Please have a little patience.

I know you guys are busy but was just wondering since it appears Nibbler is back, is it confirmed there is an issue with 2.0.19 or is this just my own little problem :)

There should be no difference between pre-bridging and post-bridging users. There have been group issues reported recently. If you can PM me FTP and database access to your gallery then I can look into a fix for the bridge file.

I'm having the same issue FWIW, I'll be watching to see the result here.  I was not aware that it starts working for new users.

Here's a piece of information I've mentioned elsewhere, but I'll say again:  it appears that CPG is probably actually paying attention to the phpBB usergroup assignments, but they just don't show up in the user list.  In my case, all my users say "registered", but people in the VIP usergroup are the only ones who get a personal gallery (correct according to my preferences).  So it might just be a display issue on the user list.

Just want to say a big thankyou to Nibbler for fixing this problem for me. Your time and patience is really appreciated, you have saved myself and my community members from much frustration.

Thankyou :)
