Auto resize not working for me?
« on: February 01, 2006, 02:41:27 am »

I have auto resize selected for all users, yet when I go to upload some big pics (via URL if that matters) it complains that they are too big.  What am I doing wrong?

You (as admin) should use FTP-upload plus batch-add, and resize the pics on your client before uploading. What's the actual error message you get? Read the upload troubleshooting section of the docs and the sticky thread on this board as well.

Well, I'm starting from a bunch of user uploaded files that are already on my site.  There are hundreds of images and I don't want them all.  I suppose I could download them all, try to find a way to batch resize them, filter out the duds and re-upload... this was just more convenient at the time.  If I download hundreds of cryptically named files onto my PC, I'll lose all the context of where they were in the old gallery.

In any case, shouldn't it work?  This is what the error said:

"The height and or width of the uploaded picture is more than that allowed by the gallery config."

Post a test user/password here (non-admin) and a link to your gallery.  The auto resize function should work for all users.

Read the upload troubleshooting section of the docs
...and do as suggested there! Mandatory when requesting support with upload issues.
