image 644 to 755
« on: January 31, 2006, 06:17:57 pm »

Hi,

call me crazy, but I would like to enable hotlinking for my images. If I'm correct, this is currently disabled
in my cpg_135 install because images are installed with access 644. My question is thus threefold:
- are there other reasons (security?) than hotlinking why the images are in 644 and not in 755 ?
- where can I change the code so the uploads are in 755
- can I safely check and change all the uploaded files to 755 ?

Thanks,
Fred

This not a feature request. Post what version of Coppermine you are using so this can moved to a support board.

Hotlinking is not related to the CHMOD settings in any way. You can specify the default mode for images in config. 644 is more secure than 755. Changing all existing files to 755 will do no harm, but I don't see what you gain by doing so.
