please search the board this has been discussed thoroughly, and the new version can have its link changed no problem.  This is still greg's project, we are simply providing support/improvements until Greg re-appears.  We all are VERY hopeful he will re-appear at which time the entire project would be turned back over to his control.  This is not a fork of Coppermine that we are working on.

are you sure he'll re-appear? i mean its had to get this far what with a new site n all... plus 13000 french ppl died in that heat wave (coincidentally) around the same time he disapeared...

Either he's gone mad and pulled all his teeth out, which has happened before, or he's fallen foul to something or died whatever..eitherway...i'm sure your words VERY 'hopeful' means you've actually got in contact with him? hmmm no anyways...i hope and pray for his return!

b6gm6n, in all honesty no one knows where Greg is and will not speculate anything.  We've tried various ways to contact him but to no avail. The last site has "expired" and the only viable solution seems to be continuing to "hack" CPG. Instead of calling it a hack and making it a fork, we've continued the development in one form or another.

Greg's authorship was never removed, and he is credited everywhere in the source and various pages on coppermine.sf.net still. The point is, if Greg does return and wants to continue the development his way, he'll be able to. Until then, the devs (mainly made up of original CPG support group) will decide their own direction in their own discretion to make CPG available and more usable & updated.
