Fit image to browser window or monitor size?

When an image is selected, it opens a new window. The image does not fit the browser though; it is too big.

Is there a way of fitting the image to the browser, or do I need to reduce the size of the photos?

OK I've found out how to do it from a previous post:

Use Files and Thumbnail Settings inside Config, then use Admin to resize.

Trouble is, I get a 30 second timeout when resizing.

How to overcome this?

OK gradually getting there.

You have to apply two modifications by Stramm.

First install the Watermark modification. Here is the link:

That's what we recommend anyway: you should resize your pics on your client before uploading them. Using the watermark mod as a workaround is not recommended at all.
