Display album thumbnails
« on: January 18, 2006, 01:36:17 pm »

My Coppermine is located at:
http://www.wolfcast.com/avaliquette/gallery/

I would like to see the albums thumbnails of the "Pictures by me / Shows" categories on the main page. I played with "Number of levels of categories to display" without success.

The config setting under Album List View that is applicable is:  "Show first level album thumbnails in categories".  That's all you can do; show the first level thumbnails.  The "Shows" sub-category with albums that you have is on the second-level and there's no way to show its thumbnails on the main page with Coppermine as is.  I think the reasoning for having the first-level option is that that is easy to understand.  If you allowed more levels, it would be difficult to keep things straight.  Imagine having albums in the first-level of a category and then in the same category having sub-categories with second-level albums.  Some extra work would be necessary to enable/disable each level and organize things in a non-confusing way.

You could investigate coding your own solution with a plugin or mod.  Or request this as a feature for a future version (in the correct forum of course).
