Integrating Coppermine between page header and footer
« on: January 17, 2006, 10:09:35 am »

Hello,

I would like to install Coppermine on my personal website but I would like it to be integrated between my page header and footer.  Is that possible?

THank you for your help.

Cheers

no, it comes with a template system of it's own, you can't include it using PHP's include command. However, you can create a custom theme that matches the overall look of the rest of your site.

Thank you for your reply.  I think creating a custom theme would be perfect.

I have found this page http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/faq.php#customHeader but I am not sure this is what you mean.  Also it is a bit advanced for me.  Is there more basic information about creating custom themes?

I have read these pages and tried different things but unsuccessfully :-(

Basically, my header and footer are included in my website via 2 PHP includes.  Is there a simple way to put these 2 includes in a new custom theme?

use the corresponding options in coppermine's config (custom header and footer). Read the applicable section in the docs, especially the caveats. Post a link to your page, this thread is going into a direction that isn't justified for a sub-board that is named "General discussion (no support!)". A moderator will then move this thread accordingly.

I wonder if using frames would not be the solution...  What do you think?

frames have huge disadvantages (search engine issues, user being lost without navigation, no bookmarking option etc.), and they're considered deprecated. I wouldn't recommend that. What's so bad about creating a custom theme in the regular way that is recommended?

It's just that it does not work because the layout is broken.

zip your custom theme and attach it to your posting (using "Additional options" when composing your message) and post a link to your page. This thread is beyond general discussion now, a moderator will move it accordingly once you did as suggested.
