Group Permission - Files types and sizes
« on: January 10, 2006, 11:29:31 pm »

Any thoughts on adding the ability to set file types/sizes/pixels by group vrs default board settings?

I would like to allow certain groups of users (we'll use Guests here) to have the ability to upload, say, zip files.  While "Power Users" could upload say zip, jpg, gif, etc.  And Admins could uploads any file type.

Thoughts are everywhere, floating through the ether . . .

If you look around the forums, you'll see lots of ideas what permissions should be added.  And you'll also see that adding permissions to the core code is being held off for a major overhaul of the permissions system to allow for such greater flexibility in addressing each person's needs & desires.

There are some mods & plugins dealing with permissions but none related to your suggestion (I believe although I haven't searched for it yet).

It's a reasonable suggestion but would take some reorganization and coding to implement.
