Video Thumbnails
« on: January 07, 2006, 05:07:42 am »

I am looking for a program that will open the frames of Windows Media or Quick Time videos files to create thumbnails.
Anyone have any suggestions on a program to do this?

Thanks

I moved your thread as I couldn't see how it was related to Photography.

I checked out a couple of programs for just that a while ago.. although I didn't test any of them. Have a look here:

You're most welcome to add to the list in that thread, especially any experiences from testing them. :)

VirtualDub may also meet your requirements.

TexAcoon,

If you make a Print Screen and past in PhotoShop ! You can make you own video thumbnail.

Talk about doing it the hard way ;) Can't imagine anyone with more than a couple of videos doing it that way.. might be good for some occasions though.

I tried the recommend programs from the previous threads ...  Did not find they were really what I was looking for.

However, I did find URL:  http://pchere.blogspot.com/2005/03/capture-images-from-windows-media.html

A "Step by Step" instructions on making your own thumbnail images, i.e. jpg, tif, bmp from a windows media format.  This works on other formats as well ..

NOTE:
What did not work (for me) where the instructions stated to use "CTRL +  I ".  I use "CTRL + Print Screen"  to pick the image I wanted and paste it to my photo program (Paintshop Pro) to save as my (jpeg) thumbnail.
