Just putting this down as a note to self  than anything else. I feel that for V2 we should have some modules which lend CPG to commercial use. The following ideas which come to mind immediately

1) For stock photos - non paying members see watermarked pics and cannot see the LARGER version and are asked to join etc etc
2) For paid picture galleries - To view certain galleries you have to be a paid member etc etc. (no I am not making a custom solution for p0rn webmasters though it might be used there)

However for what artpapa wants - I feel a better solution would be to use OS Commerce

NOTE: This is for version 2 do not expect to see this anytime in near future :)

Quite like the idea.  Had always looked for a similar gallery that would do this but I guess I wouldn't need to look far now for awhile

from 50 to 200
could be separate version with separate support.

or:

custom modifications, every e-commers upgraded option could be sold separately.

There is big potential market, few  commercial  versions out there, but they way to expensive for the starving artists and quality is not satisfactory.

tariq: what if paid members make the picture url public for others to see? The pictures will have to be stored in a secret location on the server, and if a paid users requests viewing, a symlink is made and remains active for, say, 1 hour. (after that time a cron job could delete the symlink, or simply embed deletion code in the script itself).

Do you know of any programmers to manipulate Coppermine to specific needs?

just a basket, and when a user checks out there should be a option to pay with a banktransfer or "rembours" .. dont know the word in english.. i mean the option to pay the postdude at the door   .. then a confirmation of the order should be mailed to the user and the admin.
the admin can select the photo's at his localpc and send them to his local internetprintingservice...

just VERY simple.. no automatic printingservice etc etc....

An ecommerce facility would be great. I like the idea of a basket (could it be linked to something like PayPal?)

If this was implemented, I would like to be able to set options for print sizes.

I know this goes away from "seamless" ecommerce, but it I know people who would want to order the print and have it sent to them via snail mail.

Just thinking out loud...

I'd love to have a pay-pal area
I need donations for my work to keep going and having the button may help encourage users to lend a helping hand

To have every page would really look more pro as well as really lay the guilt on when people right click to save as bring up a paypal pop-up notice

Any updates on this subject?

If not, I have a friend with a lot of php/html/scripting/whatever-knowledge, he might do it sometime.
Kodak is also looking into it, for example when users select photo's and order them, Kodak is notified, and they send prints of the highres Jpegs to the users, but that's just an example and I don't know if they are really planning that.

You can still put a paypal button by  putting the necessary HTML in template.html

No special PHP code should be needed for this

use "add to my favourites" as a shopping cart
« Reply #19 on: January 04, 2004, 10:04:07 pm »

.. my case is different.
I run a site with friends' photos, and a lot of them have requested prints.

I'm currently using the "add To my favouries" link to make them chose the photos, then I dig in the DB look for the files (pray to god it's not more then 30) then simply.... take the photos on a disk.
go to my corner photoshop(2) (BLACK'S or LOBLAWS) and print them :)
then meet with my customer(/friend) and pass them over do the exchange.

hope this is useful for those of you that ... 'see' the person you deal with.

hehe.  just got my first 2 customers :) ..
Note: all photos have the same price..

this aproach is BORING.. but, hey! worthed trying :)

thank you
