Same photo for multiple galleries
« on: December 27, 2005, 09:33:16 pm »

I am trying to use Coppermine to replace photo gallery script I had originally hacked out a few years ago for a web site that I maintain.  The web site is for music boosters for the local school distrist and my script is set up to have albums set up for every music group that's part of the organization.  However, they often do things together and a large amount of photos are set to belong to multiple galleries at once.  Is there any way (short of writing a new plugin) to duplicate this function in Coppermine?  Multiple photos would take up more space and also create problems with any comments, ratings, etc.

Thanks.

Thanks for your quick reply.  However, I don't see where I can reference the same photo in two galleries at the same time.

Did you read the whole section? Particularly the part about the album keyword?

One more question... Is there any way to get it to count it as a file so it's seamless to the end user?

Right now if I upload a file to an album and then put a keyword on it to make it go to another album, it doesn't count it in the keyword-linked album and only shows up only if you open the album.

If you refer to the file count, say Yes in Config to  Show number of linked files. If you mean something else, please post a link with a concrete example.

That's part of it.  Basically I'd like to make it look the same to the end user as if I had uploaded a picture to one album as another.

http://fftempoclub.org/cpg/cpg143/index.php is where I have the gallery if that helps.  I'd like Top Photos to appear exactly as if I had uploaded the photo in Chamber Orchestra to Top Photos as well.  It doesn't look like that'd be possible, though.

Oh, right. The difference is that there is no album image. Is that what you mean?

Yeah, mostly.  It makes it so you'd have to really look to see that the album was populated (doesn't show in the category files, doesn't have an album image, and only lists that there are linked files which may be ambiguous to users).  The other problem is some of the photos will be linked on the same level and it will appear that one group is more important than another by linking from one.
