Please a better programming of the code...
« on: December 16, 2003, 01:00:17 pm »

Coppermine is good for small sites but for big sites the consultations to mysql eat up all the memory ram, and I have one 1gb of ram in my dedicated server but the scripts use all.

CPG has been known to run with 40,000 + images please provide some more details and also since the source code is available to you, you can try and modify it yourself and let us know how it goes

to reduce query load, you can disable all fancy stuff on the index page (show thumbnails, show first level albums, intermediate pics etc.), leaving only the category overview.
Also make sure you don't run the watermark hack, which consumes a lot of CPU power and is only recommended for small sites (with little traffic).
To reduce the number of queries, you could easily switch off the stats!

P.S. Requesting better programming means indirectly insulting the programmers of the existing code of having produced "bad code", which won't make you much friends with the devs, so I recommend reviewing your attitude, unless you came here to just troll-post.

I overlooked that part believing it was most of a language issue rather than attitude
