keyboard shortcuts
« on: December 08, 2005, 12:59:41 am »

Would it be useful to include "hot keys" or "keyboard shortcuts" for such things as "see next file" or "see previous file". A single key depression would be preferable rather than a combination of keys.

What?  If you want to see the next file, click on it with your mouse.  Same for previous.  There are no combination of keys.  We won't incorporate any kind of javascript to attempt to trap keyboard input and use it to navigate a web page.

Yes, it's supported in CPG 1.4. In Firefox, you would need to have an extension called Next Please to take advantage of it. https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=390&application=firefox

Opera has native support for it.

But I don't think you can make it work with a single key... it takes a combo usually. Having no combo could create conflicts. For example, Firefox can activate the Find function just by typing the first letter of what you want to find on the page.

should not be too hard to implement two-keystrokes shortcuts without breaking stuff for older browsers or those who disabled JavaScript. Valid request imo. Marking accordingly.
