Yet Another Backup Question - Please.
« on: February 14, 2006, 08:44:34 pm »

I've read through all the posts found via Search about backups and moving to a new server and the impression that I get is you can backup the sqldb via mysql's interface.. Or you could copy the entire dir, place it on the new serv, edit the config file and be fine. I tried both and neither truly backed it up. Its also said on another post that it cant be done this way, the entire structure cant be saved and 'recoverd' on the new server.

I am hoping someone could correct me if I'm wrong, or assure me that I'm right. I've done everything I could. Aside from installing a fresh copy on new serv, copying skins and albums dir's and doing everything manually, is there a way to truly backup? My albums filecount is 250+ with comments/ratings/ect. I cant forsee starting from scratch, entering info for each one again :\

Thank You in advance.

Backup and move the database using phpmyadmin and the files using FTP. It's as simple as that.
