Uploading Movies
« on: November 26, 2005, 05:22:30 pm »

Hi all.

I'm in somewhat of a dilema. I want to add movies to my site. But as we all know movies are huge files, and even with a broadband connection, you're going to get lag.

I have no problem uploading movies, but I'm trying to find a way to encode them so the file streams easier.

Here's my problem. I prefer to use flash to encode and publish my movies. I prefer Flash for a few reasons, but mostly because it'll be platform independent. Eventhough I have Coppermine configured to accept ALL file types for movies, when I upload a Flash movie (.flv) it doesn't show up.

So I guess my question is, how can I use Flash to encode and publish my movies to my Coppermine Gallery?

I've searched Google and these forums but couldn't really find an answer.

Thanks in advance

out of the box, coppermine supports only swf. You can add other filetypes by directly adding them to coppermine's filetypes table, using a tool like phpMyAdmin.

Thanks for he reply Gau..

but give me a quick explanation as to what phpMyAdmin is and how I go about running it.

Is it a server side app or something through Copeprmine? Cause I went through all of Copeprmine and don't think I saw it.

Thanks again.

Ask your webhost if they provide phpMyAdmin.  If they don't, you can download it - Google for phpMyAdmin and follow the directions for installation.

So it is server side.

Good enough, I'll check into it.

Thanks.
