Customizing Coppermine
« on: November 14, 2005, 05:39:45 am »

Ok...I used to make websites a long time ag, like 5 or more years, so I knew HTML and CSS and such pretty well.. but then with school and everything I got out of it and just recently started getting back into it but now there is all this PHP and stuff that I dont know anything about. Anyway, I recently got Coppermine but I want to customize the colors and add a header image and stuff, but I have no clue how to do it and I'm afraid I'll mess it up. Can someone just explain it in dummy's terms or something? lol, or at least maybe just explain it generally or something? Any help is appreciated! thanks!!!  ;D

You'll only need to know html and css to edit the looks of your site - edit themes/yourtheme/template.html and themes/yourtheme/style.css
Use a plain text editor, not a WYSIWYG one.

I'm not sure what WYSIWYG is... lol But I think I understand it now..
Question: how do I download the water drop theme? I did not see it on the downloads page. I have the theme.php and the style.css files but I dont have template.html.
What do I do now?

waterdrop comes with coppermine. Use your FTP app to download the folder themes/waterdrop to your hard drive, edit the files there, then re-upload the changed files. Back the files up before you start to modify them.
