Ok GauGau.

I'll REMAKE all the Brazilian File.
I use the 1.1.0, and i remade the Portuguese, because some phrases didn't made any sense at all, like they were translated with a "Translation Program".

Ok, i'll send it to you by this weekend.

Sorry, i hate to do this, but i need a few more days to acomplish the translation of Coppermine to Brazilian Portuguese.

I've been too busy this weekend, and i couldn't finish it.
So, i'll finish the translation and double check it for "nonsense phrases" or typing errors.

Sorry GauGau,
I'll e-mail it to you, asap.

Bad spelling in Norwegian language files
« Reply #84 on: December 12, 2003, 04:38:00 pm »

Just downloaded and installed with setup in Norwegian. There are some rather ugly spelling mistakes in it, double consonants and letter switching. I would like to correct this. When I've done this, who should I handover the corrections to?

Yes, you sent me a fix the other day, while Ron, the original translator sent me one as well. As I don't speak dutch, I can't say which version is better - I have to trust the translators. And when in doubt, I rely on the "original" translators - that's why Ron's version went into the release. Remember, I asked the two of you to come up with a language file you could both agree with, and all I got were arguments.

This thread is not the place to flame, so I just consider your post as non-existant.

Crappy Norwegian language file
« Reply #93 on: December 21, 2003, 11:45:05 pm »

I have looked into the Norwegian language file and I must admit it is not just bad spelling that should be corrected!

There are in fact a good number of places the translation is bad or outright wrong.

Of course some translation choices are a matter of taste, but when they make the script difficult to understand it should be corrected.

So now there are several people having views on the Norwegian translation. What do we do? Each one for our own "best" version or what?

(I have not looked into the -utf-8 file)

Yes, that is the problem. How can you tell the best translation? -Or decide wich one should be the official version. Well, I will be happy to send mine to you when I have gone through it one more time.

Is there a "magic" way to update the -utf-8 file accordingly?

Serbian translation
« Reply #97 on: January 07, 2004, 01:06:16 am »

Hello, I just made Serbian (Cyrillic) translation of Coppermine 1.2.1. You can download it from:

http://www.mikis.org/lang/cpg-1.2.1-serbian.zip

I put both windows-1251 and UTF-8 versions in the archive. I *think* you have problem with tools (iconv?) you are using for ansi/ascii => utf conversion of non-latin files; for example, I am almost sure (but did not have time extensive checkin) that Russian, Greek and Arabic UTF-8 translations do not work as they should; Hebrew and Chinese BIG-5 are ok.

I also noticed that in almost all UTF-8 versions of language files variable $lang_charset is NOT set to "UTF-8" but to same ANSI/ISO codepage as in non-UTF files?

I can post you screenshots if you like, and I would like that someone confirm  or deny this.

I also included Serbian flag, in your instalation you have only Yugoslav (YU) flag, but I think Serbian is more apropriate (there is no more "Yugoslavia"; country is now officialy called "Serbia and Montenegro" and old flag is about to be changed). Where did you find those flags? Is there a "proper" Serbian flag in there? I made this one by rotating Russian flag (Serbian is same as Russian, but upside down), so maybe all "shadows" are not as they should be.

If you want, I can easily make Serbian Latin version of translation, so old Yugoslav flag can remain for it.

Serbian is available in the demo and download section.
There are however unsettled issues: the flag looks indeed strange, and the charset issue that arises with all cyrillic languages. I modified mikis' original file to use windows-1251 as charset (works for me)...

Thanks :) Sorry, I made UTF-8 version first, than converted it to windows-1251, but forgot to change lang_charset in serbian.php.

Any idea where did those flags came from? Maybe they have "proper" Serbian flag?

And please, in drop-down form on demo page, change name of the language to:

Serbian (& #1057;& #1088;& #1087;& #1089;& #1082;& #1080;)

so that cyrillic version is allways displayed properly. Please remove spaces between & and #, I had to put them so that you can see code in your browser.

What "charset issue with cyrillic" did you have in mind?
