features of coppermine 1.2.0

you'll probably be excited about the next version of coppermine - I want to give you a preview what features have already been added into our actual development version (most of these features have been done by tarique, based on his usability enhancement hacks for CPG 1.1.0):
  • "Powered by Coppermine" points to this site
  • Added Title option to sort in albums
  • Separated the breadcrumb block so that it can be placed independently of category
  • Added option to choose max height or width for thumbnails - will help in

creating nicer looking thumbnail rows and cols
  • Added option to display a clickable flimstrip of thumbnails below the

image display
  • Added option to show first level albums of a category instead of just

statistics of the category.
  • Added Absolute URL of a picture in the pic info this helps in giving out

links to other people and the same picture will display regardless of the
sort setting of the individual
  • Added option of turning on OR off the showing of "Private" Icon to

unlogged / unprivileged user
  • Added Breadcrumb navigation to include album names
  • Added Last Updated Album Block
  • Fixed the bug in search.inc.php
  • Added Edit Name in comments
  • Favorites list
  • Resizing of thumbnails and intermediate pics after initial upload
  • Full-size pop-up closes on click
  • A block to have custom content like a news feed, info about the site ect
  • IP logging on comments and picture uploads
  • IP banning
  • Fixed Batch Update to force selection of an album & identify the category of an album
  • Added Email notification on Comment
  • Added 'no right-click' admin option
  • [/list:u]to be continued...

I know that, but it's quite some work to add them manually to my gallery, and I think they don't work for all thems and languages...

Wait for the next release - they already work for all the themes and hopefully be translated into most languages

That's my plan. :) And for that I want to know when the new release will be available...

@ Surf Dude:

There has been a feature freeze, and the translations are coming back from the contributors. You can expect it sooner rather than later.  :)

Besides, good things come to those who wait!

I was sitting down to install Coppermine today and remembered that 1.2 would be released shortly.  Do I need to wait for version 1.2 or will it have an upgrade script?  Also, if I do need to wait, can you give an approximate timetable as to when 1.2 will be released?

There should be a simple upgrade procedure.

Upgrading from 1.1 version to 1.2 will be trivial. We are still working on upgrade scripts for 1.0.

But anyhow, will it take a week, or a month?.. An approximate date of the release would be great...

Hahah, I see. :)

It`s just that I urgently need a gallery for my community and thinking whether I should install CPG 1.1.1 now and upgrade it to 1.2 later, or wait a bit (if that is "a bit") and get myself 1.2 (integrating with Invision).

I would install 1.1.1 now, and then upgrade.  There will be a trivial upgrade path to 1.2.  Avoid making too many changes to the built-in themes, so your upgrade will proceed smoother.

There are more features that will go into the next release; I added them to the first posting in this thread...
  • IP logging on comments and picture uploads
  • IP banning
  • Fixed Batch Update to force selection of an album & identify the category of an album
  • Added Email notification on Comment
  • Added 'no right-click' admin option[/list:u]GauGau

A slight correction ..

The banning is completely seperate from the IP logging - it prevents any access to coppermine based on either IP address or username.
