user uploads appearing on server but not in coppermine

I have just installed coppermine 1.3.3 and used the SMF integration. It was all very simple to set up :) I have done all the chmod stuff and can successfully upload pictures myself as admin. However, when 'normal' users try the system, they can add a gallery ok and upload pictures. However nothing appears for me to approve. The user gallery total count is increasing but no blank galleries are appearing and as I say no pics for approval. If I look at the gallery/edit folder there are a few pictures in there. What am I missing here?

Have you set approval in the groups page?

Yes, approval is set for all groups
