[CPG133] Error catmgr.php - etc... always same type of error
« on: August 21, 2005, 11:32:20 am »

Hello All

I'm facing a problem.

1.
When I go to the configuration section and if I save any change, I get an error message.

I explain:
PREREQUISITES
Let's say my domain is : www.mydomain.com
So, the gallery is : http://www.mydomain.com/coppermine/
When I am in the config section the url is http://www.mydomain.com/coppermine/config.php
OK till now, everybody agree ?

In case of I change any value of the config page, let's say the "gallery name" for example and then, I click on the button "save new configuration", I get an error message
"Page Not Found" system doesn't find the right page" because coppermine is looking for
http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/coppermine/config.php
This url is not correct at all
the url should be
http://www.mydomain.com/coppermine/config.php

Do you understand my problem with a wrong url updating.
Why coppermine is trying to update a wrong url ?

My question is :
How can I fix/resolve thsi problem ???

2.
After uploading by ftp to my server, i should change the attributs of these following folder :
albums & include to attribute 755 or 777
Right ?
When I try to do this, the FTP log says to me :
550 CHMOD not allowed on Albums
the server doesn't supprt atributs changes
Fail

Any idea or another way to do this ?

Thanks in advance for your help in this stuff.
Regards to all of you,
Busterbel

don't post dummy example urls, but actual links. Post your PHP version as well. Did you search the board already, as this has been discussed very often?

Hi

I've found the solution and I understand the solution...I will try to explain to all of you...

1. Edit file config.php and some codes need to be changed...

Code:
<form action="$PHP_SELF" method="post">
with
Code:
<form action="config.php" method="post">

All the people don't care of my real actual url.

I'm novice on this stuff, I don't really know which PHP version is using my provider. Sorry,

To provide support, we request actual URLs so we can see the problem.  Most of the time, descriptions of the problem aren't enough to give accurate solutions.

Thanks Kegobeer.
I can understand, most of time you need minimum of info for providing a good support but
in my specific case, the problem was very detailed with example and I didn't want to give my url ... because I consider as a private url.
My problem is nothing to do with mu domain name.
But I can give my url in a private message if you want.

The same problem occurs again when I have to create a new category  :(
Coppermine search thsi url
http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/coppermine/catmgr.php?op=createcat
instead of
http://www.mydomain.com/coppermine/catmgr.php?op=createcat
and so I get again "Page not found" ... it seems to me there is a real "bug" in the version 1.3.3 ???

Which code do I need to change in the file catmgr.php for solving this...

same type of error again searchnew.php
Batch Add Files...
when I click on "inserted selected files"
Error message "page not found"
http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/coppermine/searchnew.php?startdir=batch

same errror if I want to create a category...

Why Coppermine suggests this :

http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/coppermine/...

Very annoying this bug

Any idea to fix for ever ?

thanks in adavnce for your support
regards

This isn't a problem with Coppermine, IMO.  Sounds like a strange server setup or an improper config setting.  In your config settings, what do you have for "Target address for the 'See more pictures' link in e-cards"?

You can also see what value $PHP_SELF has.  If it is doubled up, then you can always manually assign $PHP_SELF.

I have this value :
http://www.mydomain.com/coppermine/

Is it a right/good value ?
Which value do I have to put on thsi field ?

regards to you waiting for your answer

That's correct.  You need to investigate the $PHP_SELF variable to see what value it holds.  Go to your config page, view source, and look for '<form action='.  What does it say?

This is the reason why we request a link to your site - I could have already looked and had a solution for you.  It's also the reason why we don't want private messages with URLs - if I leave for a week no other dev can come along and continue helping you until you contact one of them after they ask you to.  Also, don't send me a message asking if I'm online and if I can help you.  That doesn't get my attention any faster.

I'm novice on this stuff, I don't really know which PHP version is using my provider.
http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/faq.php#VersionPHP
Look, I'm not trying to be rude, but being a newbie is no excuse for not reading the docs and faq before asking questions...
We have set up some rules on this board - you agreed to respect them when you signed up. We have them for very good reasons, not to make life harder for you, but to make giving support easier both for supporters and users who request support. One golden rule is: post actal urls instead of dummy urls. You just found out why this policy exists - kegobeer took the time to explain it to you. There are other rules that exist for very good reasons as well, one of them is not to PM supporters - you have been told so as well. Now please do as suggested without the supporters having to beg each time they advice you to do things in a certain way. One advice is: read the docs, read the faq, read the stickies, search the board before posting. This is good for you, you will certainly learn something, and it's good for us as well.
