move album from "user gallery"
« on: August 21, 2005, 03:54:18 pm »

I have all my albums in the "user gallery" and my gallery is big now. Is there a way how to move my albums from "user gallery" to  the new galleries ??

I read somewhere that it isn't possible , but I hope that is possible.

Please help before my visitors will be lost in the tons of pictures.

thanks

You can't move albums out of user galleries.

Sorry, but I must say that not having this feature is insane... What are people supposed to do, re-create and re-move all the pictures and descriptions by hand, losing comments?

I can't believe 1.4.1 b1 is out and this hasn't been implemented :(

Orech,

(Please correct me if I'm wrong, Nibbler)

If you know your coppermine host well and can get that person to export the database table containing your data into a mysql update file. You may be able to modify the resulting file using a search and replace utility and merge it into a new install of coppermine thereby restoring all your previous titles and caption. You will need to have all of your original files with their original filenames for this to work.  If merging isn't possible, at least you'll still have a hardcopy of all your titles and captions from which to cut and paste to help expedite the move.

Getting a copy of your database info, however, is entirely between you and your hosting website.

You can't move albums out of user galleries.
You can if you know your way around in the db - using a tool like phpMyAdmin. So, the detailed answer would be: you can't do that using the coppermine user interface, but you can do so using phpMyAdmin.

If you need this function that badly, why don't you code it. The actual insanity is imo improper setup of the gallery in the first place...
