How close is beta?

I am anxiously awaiting the 1.4 release of coppermine and I saw it went beta early last month. I know it's one of those "when it's done" kind of things, but if a beta of any other version has been released before, about how long did it take for the full stable version to hit the internet?

when all known major bugs were fixed. What answer did you expect ;)? You can increase the speed of this process by helping us fix bugs.
