Blackbirch: Simple nice-looking classic-theme
« on: July 06, 2005, 01:10:00 pm »

Simple, nice-looking 'classic' mod for lazy ones.

You can change your 'look' with one or two bgr-images ((+css, template (theme)). Instructions to change bgr colour included. Use, if you like.

Seen here: link below in thread
Load (directory 'birch' 77,7 kt) with 'readme'-doc: link below in thread (read&place in your themes)

To dev: excellent application! Been using with a couple of associations.

Good summer time to You all! Cheers

Matti, (Helsinki, Finland)

very nice theme indeed, although I had to edit theme.php (was throwing an error for me) and template.html (contained hard-coded text/links in finnish) to make it work for me -> re-packaged your theme then.
Demo - Download

P.S. You might want to consider posting the background-image in the upper left corner without your site name over the camera...

Hi gaugau,

When putting this little mod here I didn't know it's going to themes. Now I made it better suite to demo themes.
I think it is important (for people not so used webdesignin') to keep own menu/link possibilities in top & footer.

Here is my final cut... with new bgr's & template.html  - I leave this item now

Edited 2005.10.17. by ramppi: links below

So topleft is bgr image - means you can put txt & elements over it

Basic bgr colour, now black, is easy to change. One line in template.html (line eight)
Also all bgr's in 'title's' etc are easy to change. In .css change these backgrounds (&borders if you like): #333333 (is darker grey) and #666666 (lighter one) that's it. (you see also #cccccc or #CCCCCC -it is the bgr in admin level buttons)

As You can see most bgr's in .css are 'transparent' (left as markers) the main bgr comes from template.html

Hope this is useful

Matti

looks very good indeed. Thanks for adding the psd to allow people to come up with their own logo. I will update the file in the download section asap. You might want to consider using another set of rating stars, the ones that are currently being used work best on light backgrounds.

Cheers

Association, I configured this gallery, don't use voting option (so its only visible in main admin display). Although there are different 'stars' option.
It is pétanque (boule) gallery so the ratings are balls-like:

Edited 2005.10.17. by ramppi: GauGau has already included symbols above in theme

cheers Matti

added the rating images to the package (had to change theme.php as well), replaced the downlaod archive, updated my previous posting that contains the link to the demo and download. Renamed the thread once more. Good work, thanks for your contribution again.

I uploaded some of your themes this morning and am trying to use "Blackbirch" but am getting this error. Is it part of the problem everyone is having due to the new version or is it something I did wrong?

Themes designed for 1.3 need to be updated to work with 1.4 as described in the docs.

@paytonrain: Split your reply from an unrelated thread and merged it with this one. You already got your question answered by Nibbler. Keep in mind that cpg1.4.1 goes unsupported!

VECTORIZED TITLE (gallery logo) VERSIONS IN .psd

The title in bgr .psd-doc included is made with font Washington, but it is mac vers. One guy (yes, he is the winNER) from Canada liked the font so much that I modified logo etc for him to fit winworld.

So, if you like exact that font style, here is new title bgr .psd doc to load with several title versions in vector/rasterized (photo) format layers. Now you can change the composition, size etc. Titles: GALLERY, PHOTOS, PICTURES, ARCHIVES in photo format  layers

versions can be seen here
.psd zip to load here (333 kb)

all good to you!
Matti

PS winNERS using IE: You should check Firefox or Opera (userfriendly, much more secure, flexible - less problems)

I just wanted to post and say how much I like the Blackbirch theme. I just installed Coppermine onto my
server just so I could have that Gallery theme.   :)

But I did notice something odd when I was testing the Gallery. If you are using IE and looking at an
image the film strip only shows one of the title.gif images. But in Mozilla you see the images span the
whole table. I don't know much about coding this stuff, but I added the following to the style.css

.film {
  background-repeat: repeat;
  }

then to theme.php I edited lines 249 and 257 in template_film_strip  and added         class="film"

it allowed the filmstrip to be seen in IE on the computers in my office. But was there an even
easier way to accomplish this? Just curious, I have never tried this before and was amazed it worked
the first time.

Thanks again for the Blackbirch theme, it has been a real big hit in my office.

I had the same issue with the title.gif repeating in IE - Firefox worked fine, but...

The change to the style sheet worked flawlessly for me too.

Excellent theme...great application...thanks.
