Slight Sharpening with GD2 wanted
« on: July 11, 2005, 12:29:29 pm »

I would like to slightly sharpen the thumbnail and intermediate pics
using GD2. Is there a way to tell CPG to do that?

there is no way to get a better quality than your original pic, but if the originals are OK and only the thumbs and intermediate images appear to blury, browse coppermine's config, find "Quality for JPEG files", set a higher value there and then go to "admin tools" and re-build your thumbs and intermediates. Won't help very much though, recommended setting for "Quality for JPEG files" is "80" (default), and your file sizes will increase with better quality. You have to understand that jpeg uses a compression algorythm that is not loss-less. If you need loss-less files, use PNG instead of JPEG.

We did misunderstood obviously. I did not meant the quality of the thumbs but I was asking if there is a way to tell coppermine / GD to apply sharpening (after resizing).
