Can't make gallery offline in config panel

I want to change the layout and them for my Coppermine gallery. I went into the config section and chose the gallery is offlne yes option and clicked save but it doesn't work. I logged out and logged back in as a user not admin but everything still works. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Log in as an admin.  Run update.php.  Do not log out - if you do, you can't log in again unless you edit the config table with phpMyAdmin.

Please search before posting.  This has been asked and answered a bunch of times.

I had tried using the update.php but it didn't work. I upgraded to the latest version of Coppermine though and it now works. Thanks for your help.
