AHHH HELP!
« on: June 06, 2005, 05:29:29 am »

Ok I want to say thank you in advance for your time and forgive me for my ignorance as i have searched in places i thought i could find the answer. I have a site http://www.largebreeds.info and i have a gallery http://largebreeds.info/Big_Dog_Photo_Gallery/index.php?cat=0 and I would like to know how if at all possible I can edit and add a banner at the top to match my site? layout?

I have just started this today as I finally figured how to activate my photo gallery with fantistico or something of the sort. Any and all help is greatly apprecaited.

Regards and God Bless,

I appreciate the link, but I have no clue how to create my own skin, or how to edit the exsiting code? Perhaps my control panel allows me to do this im not sure. I apologize and understand if Im just to far clueless to help, your time was and is appreciated..  ???

Im guessing this is all the same as adding the "additional options" for my views to add their images as well.

edit themes/yourtheme/template.html with a plain text editor (notepad.exe is fine), add your custom banner anywhere. This is plain html, that's all. Did you take a look at the docs and the sticky thread on this board?

No i havent, so many to look through, i feel so stupid right about now.  :-[

I would like to add a chat that allows for photo upload to my gallery, change my theme to match my sites and I dont even know how to access the files to do so. I cant seem to find them in my control panel, and have no clue which folder or file to upload them to. I know I sound pretty duhh, but im learning.

Thanks for your patience.

as we have a "one question per thread" policy and you say you managed to put your banner where you wanted to put it, I'm ignoring your unrelated question about chat and mark this thread (which has the excellent subject line "AHHH HELP!" that makes it stand out as example for others ::)) as "solved".

Ok I was unaware of one question per thread, i guess folks looking for help dont take enough time to read all the rules. totaly my fault, but back to the inital question, i have not figured how to get my banner where i desire it. Im not sure how to get the edited themes to the right location to replace the older ones. To be honest I would be happy with just getting my banner up right now and being able to change the colors around to match. I suppose I can open another topic or find some time to read through the tons of posts for the chat board thing i was asking about.

But as of right now I still have not figured how to place the banner or customize it in anyway.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say...
You appear to have used an auto-installer ("fantastico"), so your coppermine files exist on your webserver only, not on your local hard drive. Step 1 would be to download the files you have on your webserver (using an FTP app), so you have a local copy of them. Then just edit the local copy of the file that corresponds to http://largebreeds.info/Big_Dog_Photo_Gallery/themes/water_drop/template.html with a plain text editor, find
Code: [Select]
<body>and add after it (in a new line)
Code: [Select]
<center>
    <img src="/index_files/image001.gif" border="0" width="447" height="114" alt="" />
</center>
Save the changes on the file you just edited and upload it to your webserver again (overwriting the file you have on your webserver). That's all.

If this is too hard to accomplish for you then I suggest you hire a freelancer to code a custom theme for you. Just reply to this thread if you want to hire someone together with your budget and what you want to accomplish, and a moderator will move your thread accordingly.

GauGau,

Thank you so much, i felt so dumb for a while there, I get what your saying now. I just needed it explained to me in baby talk i suppose. I will do your steps as directed. I appreciate your time and dedication to help confused individuals such as myself.
