[EXPLAINED] Quick question about users/groups.
« on: November 21, 2003, 06:17:06 pm »

What happens if a user is in 2 different groups? Which permissions does he get?..  Also, is there a way that you can set permissions for each group on each album?

Here is my scenario.

I have some public photo galleries where I say that people can upload photos to.  If a user sets up a personal gallery, and then says he wants a group to be able to upload photos, set comments, etc.    If I put these people into a group that allows comments, etc.  Will they be able to post comments into EVERY album, or how do I set it so it only applies to that album?

Ok, not the answer I was looking for, but ok...
Is there a way that a user can create a group himself and invite users into that group?

scenario: User creates a private gallery that he only wants his friends to be able to view...  Currently, can only be restricted to setup groups, no-one, and everyone.  Can it be setup so that he/she can invite users into the group for that particular album?.

Hmm that was realy a hard answer.

You want users can do the same as in phpBB groups.
1 group admin then can add/remove users from a group.
And setup which groups can view/comment/edit a album.

problem 1:
a group has a fileupload limit so which group should coppermine choose when they are different ?

problem 2:
how about the rest of the group access configs ?

problem 3:
for full customization we need to create a special database table where you can setup which member can view/comment/edit which album. But you don't want to edit that for each user on each album do you?

I was thinking that it would be more like a view group... not the same as the regular coppermine groups... they would be just a view group for each member to that specific group.

Doesn't relate, same answer as above

For each group on each album would be nice..  Just as it is in phpBB.  You can customize which people (groups) have access to which forums, etc.
