User Registrations
« on: March 09, 2005, 08:24:59 pm »

Is is possible to allow everyone to register providing they enter (in an extra field in the login form) a special extra globalpassword. So it means that everyone you give that extra global password to can register but still create/have their own account and personel password. Hope this make sense

That's a good idea. The next version has that concept applied to albums. But I can see how it would be useful to filter out registrations with a shared password. Maybe even have a password hint. Sorry I can't help with this now, but I'll add it to the to-do list for a future release, unless there are objections to this.

What I meant was so you could give the address of the site to all your friends and to let them all create their own accounts rather than using one shared account. But it would be good if I did not have to approve them, or make sure that not just any old person can get onto it. I just wondered if this had already been discussed?

Yes, I understood your request to require a new user to enter a known password before they can register to create their own account with their own username password. A check should even be enforced to not allow the users to use the shared password for their own accounts.

I don't recall it being discussed, but maybe it has. Have you searched through the forums?

hasn't been discussed before afaik, there is no hack around to accomplish this.

Joachim

P.S. What do you mean by saying
or make sure that not just any old person can get onto it.

I'm interested in this mod. It could be a great way to create a specific group with upload and viewing permissions.

Has it been developed yet?

This mod has no relation with upload and viewing permissions.

Not available as a mod anyway. Code has been added to the devel branch of the subversion repository, which means: this feature will be available in cpg1.5.x (once it will be released). I don't think that there will be a backport (of course you're free to prove me wrong). This is not a support thread anyway. Locking.
