Ban user - how do i find ip address

hi

im having bother with one user how do i find the IP address to ban them -i can see it in the profile -  they have a login name - if i ban that name does it also ban the Ip - so they cant create another account

banning by IP is not a good idea neither, as almost all users have dynamic IP addresses as well. If you ban a user by IP, next time he will start his internet connection he will probably get another IP address anyway. To actually see the IP address, check your server logs.

is there a way to show the ip address to admins only on the main page?

This is an ancient thread that deals with the unsupported cpg1.3.x. There's no support for cpg1.3.x any longer. Locking.
