Skin Engine
« on: February 24, 2005, 11:47:29 pm »

I would like to see a skin engine for coppermine. Something that can be done online threw the ACP or something. Maybe even better if say your using a board with it and you can make a new skin or use on of your board skins for coppermine. Then your board and gallery would look the same and it be easy to update it for newbies.

I have no porblem with it, but it does suck a little that I have to open the template file in a text editor and do it by hand. I think thats all this software is missing is some kinda skin engine like what IBP has to PHPBB and many others.

Just a thought  ;D

With bbs apps all using different skinning engines, this would be hard to accomplish. For coppermine 2.x (which will not be released soon, it's only in planning stage), we have been discussing the use of themeing engines and agreed on the use of smarty as engine, with the use of another abstraction layer to separate content, code and design - so yes, this is something we have in mind, but don't expect to find it in the code that soon.

Yes Gaugau !!! :)

I think it's the only thing who miss to Coppermine ...

with this new system, it would be easier to create layouts, or use simply code where we want ... (by template sytem) ...

Coppermine 2.x ... even if it's in one or two days, is the dream which becomes true :)
