All of you coppermine "wizards" could be a bit more helpful.  I was looking up an error message - as I am sure many people do, and the first 10 responses my search found all said "lookup you error before posting"

Well I did look it up before posting - why not try being helpful rather than condesending.  Obviously if I was doing a search and not finding the exact error I would repost - especially if someone is a newbie they may have a harder time finding help docs.

The suggestion is to look at the older posts first. Those would have the answers and the newer ones would say to look for the answers.

Everyone on the dev team is doing development and support for free on our own time. If we spent the time that newbies demanded of us to hand-hold them through simple things, we would not have time or energy to improve coppermine.

If you want to improve the quality of answers given on the issue you're refering to, I suggest you do a close look on the search results to your problem, bookmark all threads that have actual information in them (instead of just reference to supporters saying "search the board") and then solve the problem for you. This is step one to fix the problem for you - you will become an expert on this particular issue then. The next step would be to stay around on this board, scan all new posting and reply to those that deal with the very same issue you came up with: just paste your bookmarks into your reply, or explain in detail to everyone who is requesting help on this paricular issue how to fix it.
By this, you would earn yourself the title of "support specialist for the edit folder issue", you would increase the quality of support on this board, give developers more time to spend it on actual development instead of answering the same questions over and (of course) you will get all the fame, money, women (and whatever comes with being a supporter). What do yo say? Deal?
