Sort Latest Image Uploads by Media Type

Has anyone had any success, or could they provide me with some starting points for creating a list of the last five uploads for each media type?
(Images, flash, video, audio, text)

Is media type something that be sorted by from a database call?

I don't understand.  Are you requesting this to be added in a future version, or do you want it now?

Ruhrow. I think I might be posting in the wrong section since this is the second response I've received like this.
What do you suggest? It is a feature request, however, it may be better off in the hacks/mods section. (EEEP!)
