--- Main Image Size Quick Question ---
« on: February 08, 2005, 04:07:57 am »

Hello All,

I have been searching the forums for 2 days now and have had no success. My users are uploading large pixeled files, which I have no objection against. However, is there a way (in the config menu or somewhere else) to have the images "shrunk" upon having a user view the main image? I don't mind the file size, and I have read the articles about the hacks concerning resize following a user upload, but is there a way to allow these large files and large pixled images to be uploaded, but to be VIEWED at smaller sizes???

Thank You!
Jason

I'm new at this, but in the configuration menu under "Files and thumbnails settings" you can set it to create intermediate-size pics, and set the max height/width of those pics. So a user can click on the thumb, see the intermediate size pic, then click on that pic to see the actual full-size pic that was uploaded. That way, the full-size image is there if they want to see it, but  the intermediate-size pic is what loads when they click on the thumbnail. I think its a nice option because users don't have to wait for the big pics to load if they don't want to.

Thanks a lot for the responses, you were right about the intermed. pics! When I tried it, before posting, nothing changed, but what I had to do was go into the admin menu and select "resize pictures" for the pics to be updated w/ the new configurations!!!

Thank you!!
