Show "Last Additions" on other pages?

My gallery index is not the index of my website (my gallery is the most important, but not only, part of my website).  Is there a way to simply display the "Last Additions" on another page of my website (such as my index page)?  Also, is there anyway to do the same with the information that says "x files in x albums..." (without just typing in the updated numbers periodically, obviously)?
