Is there a way I can turn off comments and ratings?

As title.

I want the gallery purlely for displaying images, and have no use for these features. Can I turn them off somehow?

Yep, you can turn off just about every feature.

The docs explains it all.  If someone is not allowed to do something, they don't see it, so just turn off their ability to do it.

I read the FAQ and I can't see any mention of this.

Casper suggested you read the docs (which is short for "documentation"), so you just click on "documentation" at the top of this screen, or you brose the coppermine package you downloaded and go to docs/index.html. Take a look at the "groups" control panel section there...
