When i view an album in the right hand corner (fruity) there is a box that says time date and title - but has no  parameters - it just has +++, should this have the date the file was added - how do i set it to work ??

I don't know what you're talking about - do you mean the album sorting options? Post a link and a screenshot with the area in question highlighted.

should it have readings on it

That's normal, it is the sort options.

The +/- is for ascending/descending sorting.
