Should i use my mambo database or create a new one specifically for coppermine?

pretty new to this stuff so go easy on me! ;-)

You should use one database for both applications.  You don't have to worry about tables being accidentally deleted, Coppermine uses a unique prefix for each of the tables it creates.

If you have limitations on number of databases, then i suggest that you should use the same database for both applications.

As kegobeer mentioned all the coppermine tables will be prefixed by the word you chose during the installation and hence it will be easy for you to distinguish between the mambo tables and coppermine tables
