SMF allows for users to be part of multiple groups. I am trying to make everyone who donates part of a donator group and give them an elevated access to coppermine. How will coppermine handle someone with more than one group? Does it only look at their primary group?

Coppermine doesn't have that ability - please search the forums.  The devel version will support it.
