Gif support
« on: December 29, 2004, 02:32:21 am »

Pardon if I have missed this. Every time I look for an mention of gifs, I spend hours looking through unrelated files and interesting mods. So can someone please let me know if there is any way to support gifs, particularly animated ones? Since the gallery also offers ecards, many of my members would like to make simple animated gifs for the gallery.

Thanks for your help.

1.4 has the code to handle GIFs, provided you have GD 2.0.28 or greater.  GD doesn't support animated GIFs, but the next version may have limited support for them.  That means the thumbnails won't be animated, just the original image.

What version of GD comes with the latest PHP bundle?  The latest version I'm aware of is 2.0.28, which doesn't handle animated GIFs.

Thanks for your replies, even though I posted in the wrong forum.  (sorry)

I have Coppermine 1.3.2 with GD 2.0.28. 1.4 is not available yet, is it? Does this mean that for now, it isn't going to work for me, but in the future it may?

I wrote a mod that gives 1.3.2 the ability to support GIF images.  Search, or visit pictures.kazebeer.com.  There's a downloads link on the main page.

1.4 is not available yet, is it?
It is available as alpha version. You're welcome to test it, although it's not recommended to use on production sites yet, and comes without support. Refer to http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=7947.0
You will need to do additionally check out the cvs version if you want the most recent and up-to-date version though.
