Coppermine Installation Service
« on: December 26, 2004, 12:37:09 am »

I own a small business online (I do web design for Commercial, Non-Profit and Personal Web sites.) and I have had many requests from clients for installing photo album related scripts and the like.

I have some questions if you don't mind.

Question 1) Is it permissible to use the Coppermine logo on my site to advertise that do Installation and Basic Training of Coppermine for my clients?  (I would be linking the Coppermine logo back to the coppermine web site)

Question 2) Is it permissible to charge my clients a small fee for the installation? (or do you have a rule against this practice)

Question 3) Does Coppermine accept donations to help further research and design.

My idea is to charge a small fee of $30.00 or $40.00 and donate 50% of that fee to Coppermine for further Research, Development and Design. I have found that if you leave it up to the general public to donate to the cause few will, but there are many who will not. I donate to other research and design programs as well and this has worked out quite well.

Of course there would be the usual disclaimers . . . (Coppermine is not responsible for any or all installations done by CCbM) - (CCbM is not affiliated with Coppermine)

If you do allow this practice but have some guidelines I need to follow, please let me know.

If I am out of line in my wishes I do apologize.

Thank you for your time.
Happy Holidays to all

1.  Providing the disclaimer is clear, I see no problem with this.

2.  Yes, providing you keep to the GNU/GPL licence.  You must provide the source code, and the customer must be allowed to do what they like with it.

3.  No, we don't accept donations.  You can however, help to keep our hosts, Sourceforge, able to provide us the service, by donating to them, or pay a developer to come up with a new feature for coppermine, and give us that.  Or you could donate it to your favourite charity.

It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

For example, you can go through the Feature Requests board and be a "sponsor" for a feature by posting it in the Paid Help section.

Thank you for your generosity. :)
