I am using project vii theme for my photo gallery. but when I click upload, the Upload File Description is barely seen due to black background. How can I change the background color?

All colors are controlled in your theme's style.css file.  You can temporarily switch to your styleguide theme - that will help you figure out which attribute needs to be changed.  But instead of changing the background color you could change the color of the text being displayed.
