KEYWORD SEPPERATION
« on: September 22, 2005, 09:21:42 pm »

Hi,

When i use keywords i want to use birdnames with NO sepperation.
example: larus atricilla is ONE bird and I watn it ONE keyword. Coppermine shows it as two keywords...... larus and atricilla.

Can I change this?

Thanks in advance,

Wim

I'm using 1.4x so I don't know if this will work in 1.3x as well, and I cannot guarrantee that this will work with languages other than English, but, when typing a keyword with a space that you want to be read as ONE word, use the 'special' ascii space character ALT+0160.

Hold the ALT key down, type 0160, then release the ALT key.  You will see a blank space generated.

Your other alternative is to connect words using an underscore like one_two.

Having the option to use other keyword separators than space has been requested before, I agree that this would be nice. Would require fundamental changes in the search routines to accomplish - not an easy task. That's why it never has been done. As a workaround, use the method described by Dennis.
