Caracters encoding and french browsers
« on: November 02, 2004, 12:03:47 pm »

Hello,

I'm setting up the photo gallery for "Club Concorde" in france.

The goal is to have an automatic language detection for non french browsers,

language is set to : french-utf8
default cookie param and encoding is set to "default, language file

Is that Ok ?

Because this is causing some strange behaviours particulary in Mozilla or Firefox with the french accents wich appears as Ú,Ã(c) etc etc...
Even if I set mozilla in UTF-8 mode it changes only for the current page but it doesn't keep the option and the next page is displayed with Ú,Ã(c) (ISo8859-15 charset !)

I tried to switch "from french-Utf8" to "french" but even after saving the configuration, I still have "French-Utf8"
I also tried to force to chinese or indonesian but I still have  "French-Utf8"???

Is something oustside CPG that can force the configuration, should I ask my web hoster ????

I give you the URL to check on your side and may reply (debug mode is set to on):

I have no more ideas. :-[

It displayed fine for me.  This is probably just your browser and cookie settings.  Try deleting your cookie.

It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

I did it and I was able to change the configuration.
I forced it in french instead of french-UTF8.

I reloaded the galeries and it looks fine now.
I wont touch it any more.

THX .
