manual for 1.2
« on: October 09, 2004, 02:45:39 pm »

My ISP is running an older 1.2.x version of CPG. I am trying to bridge that with PHPBB. I have done the bridging according to the CPG 1.3 manual, but apparently (some guy in the 1.3 forum thinks this weird, I'll take his word) that's not going to work.

I don't want to update the CPG because a) I wouldn't know where to start b) I don't have that kind of time c) the currently installed cpg does what it's supposed to (except bridge with my bb)

My questions:

Is there a manual somewhere onlyne for the older version (v 1.2) of CPG?
Does this manual offer a different technique/process to bridging than the one outlined in the v1.3 manual?

Thanks in advance.

You've already posted this in another thread.  Please don't double post.

To respond to your reasons why you don't want to upgrade:

a) No one knows how to administer a site when they start.  You have to learn how to do it, otherwise you need to hire someone to do it for you.  Upgrade instructions are in the 1.3.2 release, a simple procedure once you read them.

b) If you don't have the time, hire someone to do it.

c) The bridge files aren't backwards compatible.

Coppermine 1.2.0 came with a manual - it's in the docs directory.  And since you paid for a customized version of Coppermine, I'm pretty sure that your host should have some sort of documentation available for you.  Bridging isn't covered because it wasn't available then.

Netfirms offers their coppermine version free with their service.

Thanks for the upgrade info, however. I will look into it.

BTW, I did not double post. This was a v1.2 question, and the other was relating to v1.3.
