Brand spanking new albums appear to have a password set by default.

Where do you see that?  I haven't run into that problem yet.  After creating a new album I checked its properties and the password field is blank.

Once I enter the password, I get an error on every page:

While executing query "SELECT aid, MD5(alb_password) as md5_password FROM cpg132_albums WHERE aid IN ()" on 0

mySQL error: You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1

and the gallery becomes completely unuseable. :(

Maybe I just need more sleep....

I'll try setting up a gallery online and post a link here.

OK, create a new album, set a pass on it, create another new album, and you will see it has the pass you set for the first album.

Couldn't duplicate the problem.  I'll keep at it though.

Cannot duplicate either, all working as expected on my setup.

I got it, firefox was 'remembering' the album password and prefilling the form. False alarm.  :-[
